An Icy Reception for Winter

Telling Your Story

I feel like a traitor to the Midwest writing this, but I don't like Winter. Mainly because of ice.  At my last office location, the building owners kept a huge bucket of salt at the entrance, for the RENTERS to spread on the parking lot to melt the enormous patches of ice on it. The hardest part was when I left work at night - I'd gingerly walk across the lot in hiking boots, hoping I wouldn't slip on my back and break a few vertebrae. Maybe I should have TAKEN the salt bucket with me and done a "Hansel and Gretel" in reverse to my car!  I finally had to move my office to a building where during the Winter, they salt the heck out of the parking lot, day and night! A whole new kind of upward mobility.
